The Snow Queen

As a very special Christmas treat,we attended Ballet Magnificat's performance of the Snow Queen on Sunday!  This was Ballet Magnificat's very dramatic version of the traditional Hans Christian Anderson's tale, incorporated with a beautiful Christian message, and it was amazing.  The costumes, wigs, music and sets were all absolutely gorgeous.  I read there were over 320 costumes and 215 wigs!

Ellie and Abby sat perched on the edges of their seats, enthralled with the entire performance.  The delight on their faces, watching the dancers leap and twirl, was precious!  It was Abby's very first real ballet and she was a little lady the entire time.

Ellie was fascinated by the dancers sparkly eyelashes!  Even the Snow Queen's little dog (a real dog!) was wearing glitter and sparkles!

Before the ballet, we had brunch at Broad Street (our favorite!).  The girls brought along their special sparkly ballet handbags Granna gave them for Thanksgiving.

This was Daddy's first ballet, too, and he enjoyed it just as much as we did!

Waiting to go in...

Here are the girls with several of the "villagers".  The dancers were all so sweet to pose with audience members before and after the performance.  We told them Ellie and Abby take ballet lessons, too!  (Abby was a little shy talking to them!).

We loved the whimsical Colorful Angels!  Each angel was wearing a candy colored gown and matching beehive wig.  Of course the pinky-purple angel was Ellie's favorite!

What better way to top off a magical day at the ballet than with candy cane cupcakes at Gigi's?!?    YUMMY!!
