Feeding the birds on a cold wintery day!

Pants on the ground!

Check out Abby in her first pair of jeans! Daddy bought them for her this week. She thinks she is soo trendy!
They're going to need a little alteration, though, her tiny little waist can't hold them up. . . no saggy britches around here!!

I got me a Chrysler, seats about 20! So come on & bring your juke box money!

Okay, so it's really a Dodge, but same thing. We have a fun little rental to drive until the Toyota Magic-Sticky Accelerator Pedal situation is resolved. My poor Camry gets to hang out at the Toyota dealership for a few weeks, until Toyota fixes the problem! This little Dodge doesn't have a Hemi, but I'm glad that my babies are safe when we're cruising around town!

Before the mess!

Isn't this the sweetest face ever? Surely it's not the face of a baby girl who is about to cover an entire kitchen floor with pieces of fried egg, biscuit, banana and bacon. . .

Taylor Swift Sighting!!!!

Is it Taylor Swift. . .
Nope, it's Ellie! She had a haircut today and as a special treat, Melissa curled her hair. Ellie thought she looked exactly like Taylor Swift (her idol!). So we rushed home and took a few Taylor-style photos before the pretty curls fell from Ellie's hair.

She's Crafty -- She's Just My Type

Ellie LOVES crafts! I have no idea where she gets that from (just kidding!! like mother, like daughter!). So the other day, she disappeared in her room for a few minutes and emerged with this adorable mask! She came up with the idea herself!

So, Sunday night, we made a few Valentine decorations -- again, Ellie's idea!

We painted square canvases with acrylic paints....

Daffodils!

While Abby napped yesterday, Ellie and I planted over 50 daffodil bulbs! Spring fever!

A beautiful day!!

It was a gorgeous day yesterday - a warm 72 degrees! And such a refreshing change after all the unusual, below-freezing weather we've had this month!! The girls and I played outside all afternoon!!

Typical Mississippi-Girl -- it's above 65 degrees so bare feet!

Sandy, the neighbor's dog, joined us in the backyard...

Pink Pancake Party!!

Monday evening, we had a Pink Pancake Party! We made butterfly, ladybug & snail shaped pink chocolate chip pancakes and all the fixings. Pinkalicious!! It was definitely an occasion for tiara-wearing!

Daddy wore a fireman hat since tiaras aren't very manly...

While I cleaned up the kitchen, Ellie wrote the sweetest note! It says "This is the best night of all. Love, E."

Big Girl

Abby has mastered the art of chair-climbing! She can climb into the kitchen chairs in mere seconds. We've now learned to keep anything not Abby-Approved off the kitchen table! She thinks she's such a big girl eating her banana from a plate at the table! Cutie pie!

Soup of the week! Sassy Potato Corn Chowder

How could we resist a recipe called Sassy Potato Corn Chowder? It was very tasty, although I substituted the Miracle Whip dressing with heavy cream and we had to add salt & pepper. The recipe is from www.kraftrecipes.com

Peek A Boo!

A big award!

Ellie climbed in my car after school with the biggest smile on her face. Today, Mrs. Lynn gave out several class awards and she gave Ellie a very special award! Mrs. Lynn said Ellie had the best desk work in the class! Ellie was sooo excited and we are very proud of our little scholar!

Jim Henson's Fantastic World

Yesterday, Ellie's class had a field trip to the Mississippi Museum of Art for Jim Henson's Fantastic World. It was a blast! Tim and I had just as much fun as the children, remembering all our favorite Jim Henson characters, and looking at all the amazing sketches & behind the scenes information. We weren't allowed to take photos inside the display, so here is one from their website of Jim & some of his characters.
The real Mahna Mahna puppets were there!! Our favorites! And we saw Kermit, Bert & Ernie, Rowlf the dog and more!

After the tour, the class was treated to a special workshop in one of the museum's classrooms. They made paper bag puppets.

Abby observed while eating a snack.

Annie & Ellie's finished puppets. They kind of look like a cross between Kermit the Frog and Animal from the Muppets!

Mrs. Lynn's Kindergarten Class!

Valentine Cookie Baking!

Ellie & I discovered Valentine's Day cookies are in the grocery store already! Hooray! We LOVE Valentine's Day! Everything about it -- decorating with all the pretty reds & pinks, making goody bags for friends, Ellie's class party, eating chocolate (and more chocolate!). Love is in the air!! So we just couldn't resist the heart printed cookies and fancy sprinkles! We invited Ellie's sweet friend Anna Leigh over to bake & decorate the tasty treats! Adorable Anna!
Mmmm!! Sprinkles!

While the cookies baked, the girls worked on a Valentine craft

We'd purchased pretty bags to hold the finished products, but we ended up eating all the cookies! Oh well! That just means we get to bake more!

Macaroni Mouth!

Abby loves macaroni & cheese!
Check out the way she shovels it in her tiny mouth! YUM-O!!!

Tissue Time!

Abby was awfully quiet the other night, on the other side of my bed, while I was folding laundry. I soon discovered she'd found the tissue box and was having the most delightful time pulling the tissues out of the box, one by one. All I could do was laugh! She was so happy playing with her simple toy!

Little Timmy

I've always thought Abby looked like me in my old baby photos. The brown eyes, darker hair. . . maybe it was a little bit of wishful thinking since Ellie looks nothing like me with those big cornflower blue eyes and blonde hair (although she is mini-me in personality! :) Poor Tim!). Ellie looks so much like Tim, I see it more every day. My sweet big girl.
Yesterday, while sorting through some old photos, I came across these shots of Tim as a baby and realized that Abby is Daddy-Junior!! I'm 0 for 2!
Abby, however, inherited the 'love for shoes' gene from mommy!
