Classroom Cupcakes!!

Ellie wanted to celebrate Back to School with a special treat for her class, so yesterday we brought cupcakes & juice for snacktime.

Some of Ellie's school buddies!
Little sister enjoyed a cupcake, too!
Mrs. Cox leading the class in this year's school cheer: Peace! Love!  Happiness!
After their cheer, each student introduced themselves with their name and a little special fact about them. Annie's mommy & I  loved getting to see Ellie's new friends in person -- we're always hearing such fun stuff about their classmates.  They're all adorable and so well mannered!

Ellie's pottery wheel

Ellie is learning to use her new pottery wheel.  I can't wait to see her lovely creations!

Where's Abby?

Ellie Slay Designer

Ellie had the chance this summer to design her own tee shirt with a company called Sweet Mady's.  She decided on a butterfly, then chose the color scheme, polka dots, stripes & font style, and had final say when the proof was emailed.  Her shirt arrived several weeks later and is soo cute!  Last week, as a special treat, Sweet Mady's sent Ellie a coordinating hairclip in  her butterfly design!  Very exciting!

Little Cutie

Surprise!!

Our favorite first-sign-of-Autumn!  Though I think they're technically called Spider Lilies, we like to call them Surprise Lilies, and they've popped up in our yard, just like they do every year around this time.  Hooray!  Fall is almost here!!

caught in the act!

A certain little toddler likes to climb up on her changing table when she thinks we aren't looking. . .

Fire Station Field Trip

A couple of weeks ago, Papa & Granna took Abby on a little field trip to the fire station.  Abby had been asking to see the "big fire trucks", since we drive by the fire station almost daily and count the fire trucks.  When they arrived at the station, the very nice fireman gave Abby a tour of the fire truck and let her stand on it, much to her delight!  She loved checking out the fire truck and told them there wasn't a baby seat in it for The Abby.  But then, the firemen kindly asked if Abby would like to hear the truck's engine and siren. . . she was totally not into that (as you can see by the above photos).   As soon as the siren/engine was turned off, the Abby waterworks also shut off and all was well again for The Abby.  Abby is still talking about her fun trip to see the "Too Big Fire Truck Abby" and she's worn her dress-up fire hat around the house all week.  Thank you Granna & Papa for the exciting field trip!!

Lunch Lady Land

Ellie's entire first grade class!  What cutie-pies!
Today, I had the super cool privilege of visiting Ellie at school during lunchtime and sitting with her in the cafeteria while she ate her lunch. It was so fun! There are special tables for the visitors to sit with their little students. Ellie's sweet friend Annie and her mommy joined us. It was great getting to see all her classmates and get the whole cafeteria experience!  I can't wait to eat lunch with Ellie again very soon.

Homework time!

Ellie has homework several days a week! Yikes! In first grade! But she loves it and I love getting to see what she's learning in Mrs. Cox's class.   On Thursday, they visited the school library and each student checked out a book.  Ellie has to read it several times out loud to me and then she'll have a test on the book.

Silly on Saturday

Head em up, move em out!

Cowgirl Ellie
(blurry but I just couldn't resist -- she's so stylin' in that crazy green wig!)

Happy Abby

serious concentration!
Big ole brown eyes!
New favorite big sister entertainment:  Stick the bandaids on little sister!  The other night, Abby wandered in the living room with 6 Elmo bandaids stuck in various spots -- including her back!

"NEW BURGER" -- Ellie's first Arby's roast beef sandwich!
It takes longer to don all the accessories necessary for a quick stroll around the block than the actual stroll itself!
While Tim was grilling the other night, Abby very purposefully lined up the little benches, climbed up on it and proudly said "CHOO CHOO!!  All Aboard!"  It's in her blood.  She's Papa's Choo Choo buddy!
Mmm!!  Snoball tongue!   (Check out the scratch on her head -- the last remaining evidence of her first trip to the E.R. and CT scan!  Bad old couch fall!)
