Abby's First Day of School!

Wake up big pre-schooler!!!!

First day of school breakfast!

Abby was soooo excited about starting 2K at FPK!!!

Big smiles!

2K!!!

my sweet baby girl!

Ready to go with her big school bag!  Soo cute.  I always love the FPK bags, they're as tall as the children!

Ellie wanted to take Abby to her first day of school, so Abby would be "more comfortable" -- thoughtful big sister.

Abby & Mrs. Anna, FPK's Director

Abby walked right in the classroom, just like a big girl!!

Greetings from Mrs. Holly

Already settled in with the other children.  She did look back and wave!  Thank goodness!  It was sooo hard sending our baby off to school, but we know she's going to have a fabulous year at FPK.

Saturday Scavengers

The girls wanted to go on a scavenger hunt yesterday so I worked up a list and we went for a (hot) walk around the neighborhood.

They did a great job spotting all the different things on their list!   Ellie's favorite item was the camellia seed she collected at Granna's.

Random Phone Snapshots!

Abby had a double ear infection last week and she's not a fan of her medicine.  So Papa tried to bribe her with a roll of pennies (it was their last resort -- after chocolate didn't work!).

Pennies didn't work either!

Some Fair snapshots from my phone. . . Notice Abby is holding 2 sticks of cotton candy!!  And, yes, she ate it all!!!  Good thing she'd had a check up from the dentist that morning!

Ellie and her sweet friends Annie, Ramie and Maggie

Come Fly With Me!!
(and I think those planes should have seat belts)

Tilt o' whirl!
We went to Hattiesburg last weekend for a quick little get-away.  Ellie selected the Crescent City Grill for her Back to School supper.  Yummy!!!!  She ate a huge plate of shrimp-n-grits.

Abby had to pose by the Southern Miss clothes in Hattiesburg's Target.  Go Eagles!

New school bag!!!

Back to school manicure!  Ellie used a gift certificate she received for her birthday.

Of course Little Sister needed one, too!

Here kitty, kitty, kitty!!!  Feeding the catfish at Justin's on the Lake.  They were big, fat ugly catfish and it cracked up the girls when they'd open their mouths and scoop up the food!

Abby's Meet the Teacher Day!

Abby starts 2k at FPK on Monday. We can't believe our baby is old enough for pre-school.  She's really looking forward to going to 'big girl school' and it's such an amazing program.  Several of her buddies from Sunday School will be in her class (and her classroom is her Sunday School room, too) so we think she'll feel comfortable right away.

Today was Meet-the-teacher-day.  Abby was so ready to see her classroom, she hurried up on the curb and promptly fell on the sidewalk.  Poor little muffin!!  Here she is with a tearful but excited smile (and two skinned knees)!

An apple owl for the teacher!

The children were encouraged to play for a few minutes to familiarize themselves with their classroom.  Abby went straight to the puzzles.  You can see her little cubby (with the yellow tag)  in the background!!  So cute!!

Lylah is one of Abby's sweet church friends.

Abby's tote bag hook!  It seems like just yesterday I was taking the very same photo of Ellie's name up there!

Abby and her wonderful teacher, Mrs. Holly.   Mrs. Holly gave her a yummy cookie as we were leaving, much to Abby's delight!!

My lunch-date with my little pre-schooler!  She looks so grown up!

First day of Second Grade!!

Ellie started second grade this week.  She's sooo excited to be back in school with all her precious friends.

Her new teacher is Mrs. Porter and is really sweet -- here they are at Meet-The-Teacher-Day.  Ellie will also start Quest, the gifted program, this year.  We're so proud of our Second Grader!!!

I love this first day of school smile -- excited and a little bit nervous!!

Second Grader!!!  She selected her outfit to match the pretty bracelet Aunt Sarah gave her as a back-to-school gift.

New school year = new backpack and lunch bag!

Daddy & Ellie!  Ready to go!

Mommy's sweet girl!

Here we go!!!

Martin Elementary's theme this year is School Rocks!  The 2nd grade hallway decorations are rockin'!

First moment as a second grader, greeted at the door by Mrs. Porter

Ellie's been up before her alarm every morning, so ready to get to class.  Yay!!  It's going to be a great year!

Summer's End

We had a great summer!!  Pretty lazy at times, super busy at times, too.  Perfect mix!  And the perfect way to end the summer in Brookhaven is with a visit (okay, several visits) to the Exchange Club Fair!

Papa and Abby had a ball riding the train around the park.  Ellie dared me to ride the Ferris wheel with her (I think I traumatized her friend Annie, who rode with us, with all my freaking out the entire ride!  Not a fan of heights).  Ellie and Annie rode every ride in the park at least twice.

The girls consumed their weight in cotton candy and junk food.  Mmmmm!!!! Can't get any better than that!!

One morning, the girls were asked to dog-sit for a few minutes while one of my co-workers ran a few errands.  They loved playing with Darth, Sam's dog.  He's hilarious.   Ellie was fresh out of BARL Camp so she's an expert on leash duty and Abby followed Darth around with a bowl of water.  She was soo worried he was thirsty.

Little down time with Daddy -- who is playing Angry Birds and who is playing an ABC's game?

Last day of summer parfaits!!!  Yummy!!!!!
