Hospital (again. . . )

Ellie had another one of her Abdominal Migraine (aka Cyclical Vomiting Syndrome) episodes last weekend.  It started Saturday with a headache and she was very weak and sleepy.  She slept most of Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday.  Then she started throwing up Sunday night.  By Monday afternoon, we knew we couldn't stop it on our own so sweet Dr. Braden admitted her to the hospital (again! her 8th time at KDMC) for IV fluids and meds.  

This episode was a little worrisome since it started with a bad headache - the first time to really do that.  But within hours of starting her IV, Ellie was hungry and ate BBQ chicken and mac and cheese (hospital food!).  She was still weak and tired, but it's amazing how fast she perks up as soon as she gets re-hydrated with the IV.

We've increased her daily medicine and will try to avoid common migraine triggers and hopefully we can keep the episodes from happening so often.

Tuesday morning, Abby visited (a much better looking!) big sissy in the hospital.  She sure missed Ellie and was so worried! (Ellie doesn't do hospital gowns, she said they're 'boring' and not stylish!)

Ellie showed Abby all the features of the hospital bed and they 'rode' it up and down a bunch of times (sorry, KDMC!).

About 20 hours after she was admitted to the hospital, she was rehydrated and feeling well enough to be released!  Yay!!  Mrs. Emma wheeled both happy girls out to our car so we could head home to rest!
We're so thankful for Dr. Braden and KDMC's precious care!
